Shirin Movahed Rakocevic is a partner at KI Legal in the Corporate Transactions Department. After a long-standing career as a litigation and corporate attorney for Fortune 500 companies and luxury brands, she has now redefined the traditional practice of law, and brings her well-established experience and knowledge of business law, blockchain and cryptocurrency, intellectual property law, and business succession planning to better serve the needs of start-ups and SMEs.

Within the Transactions division, Shirin brings a new and groundbreaking approach to tokenization payment, providing her clients with expertise in all token types including payment, utility, security, and non-fungible as well as decentralized financing. Importantly, Shirin always strives to stay at the forefront of the legal industry and has expanded her transactional expertise to include advising her clients on decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), brand protection in the multiverse and the benefits of blockchain. 

In addition, Shirin has also established herself as a true pioneer in the intellectual property realm. Her holistic approach to the protection and enforcement of intellectual property diversifies her from others entering this competitive legal space and allows her to aid clients across the entire IP spectrum, from trademarks and copyrights in the real world to non-fungible tokens and other blockchain applications in the virtual world. 

Aside from her legal work, Shirin’s passion for educating and empowering her community has led her to serve as a board member to several private companies and organizations as well as an advisor to start up incubators and accelerators. Shirin also continues to lecture at universities, cultural institutions, trade associations and offers webinars on various legal topics in the areas of business, branding, NFTs, asset protection and succession planning. 

While her biggest accomplishment is becoming a mom to her two little girls, Shirin has also earned several accolades in her profession which includes being selected by Thomson Reuters® as a New York Super Lawyer Rising Star and peer ranked in the top 5% of female lawyers in New York.
